Mitch Caton

Certified Family Life Coach

Mitch grew up in the Mid-Atlantic area.  He met his wife in college and early in their relationship decided to travel to New England to visit family and friends.  They left from North Carolina to travel up the coast to New Hampshire.

Given that it was before every cell phone had a built-in GPS, they used paper maps and took a wrong turn in Delaware onto the New Jersey Turnpike.   After a while they saw a sign for the Delaware Memorial Bridge – meaning they were driving in the wrong direction for a half hour and had to turn back, adding an hour to their drive that day.  He was frustrated, to say the least.
What does this story have to do with Family Life Coaching?  Mitch considers himself to be a good driver and his car was in good shape.  He was monitoring essential things like fuel, temperature, oil, etc. and was constantly checking his Rand McNally map.  But, he simply used that resource the wrong way.  He considers travel as a mission – with designated arrival times and everything planned out.  Yet, on this trip, he got off track.  What he needed was someone to guide him to help him see he was going the opposite direction (south) from where he wanted to go (north).  This experience provides a good metaphor for understanding the value of a Family Life Coach.  These coaches walk beside us and have many tools, resources, and knowledge in dealing with families and relationships that help us refocus and head in the direction we want to go, especially if we get off track.
Mitch is an Advanced Certified Family Life Coach and is passionate about working beside families and individuals who seek clarity and direction.  One of his strengths is to serve as a sounding board and resource to help others find new and better life directions.
